Big Picture – A Deep Dive Examination of VRX Silica Ltd

VRX Silica Ltd Snapshot

Ventnor (the Company) has been investigating rising demand in Asia-Pacific markets for silica sand, the primary ingredient in glass manufacturing; it is also a main component in concrete construction and used in production of tech metals.

Arrowsmith Project

Overview

In October 2017, Ventnor Resources Ltd announced the acquisition of a new project, Arrowsmith, 270 kilometres north of Perth in Western Australia. Three Exploration Licences, totalling 350 km2, were applied for to explore for construction sand and high-quality silica sand, which are in high demand in the Asia-Pacific region.

Silica sand is the primary component of all types of standard and specialty glass and is also used for metal casting; metal production; chemical production; pain and coatings; ceramics; filtration and water production and oil and gas recovery. Construction sand is the primary structural component in a wide variety of building and construction products.

Preliminary reconnaissance work on the Arrowsmith Project indicates substantial potential for sand resources suitable for both glass making silica sand and construction sand, which are in increasing demand in countries such as China, India and Vietnam where there are rapid building growth rates.

Biranup Project

Overview

On 21 August 2014, Ventnor applied for ELA39/1828 comprising 42 graticular blocks situated adjacent to the 7Moz+ Tropicana Gold Mine jointly owned by AngloGold Ashanti and Independence Group.  The rationale behind the move was to expand the Company’s focus beyond base metals to gold. The application was granted at the end of March 2015.

The project is located 370 kilometres north-east of Kalgoorlie and 22 kilometres north-east of Tropicana. The tenement has been the subject of recent exploration and since the application was granted, the Company has collated a significant database from previous exploration and has been evaluating the mineralisation potential of the tenement. The database includes assays of soil samples, auger samples, AC, RC, and diamond drilling results, along with a significant geophysical database including gravity/mag and EM surveys. The Company has used specialists to evaluate all of the components of the database and has examined concurrent anomalies.

Muchea Silica Sand Project

As of 30 July 2018 Ventnor Resources Ltd owns the tenement E70/4886, which with the adjacent license application ELA 70/5157, forms the Muchea Project located 50km north of Perth, Western Australia and covers an area of 93km2

Sampling

Limited historical exploration for silica sand has been undertaken in the Muchea Project area. Ventnor has conducted aircore drilling (46 holes aircore holes for 522 metres) and auger drilling (43 hand auger holes for 249 metres) during its preliminary due diligence investigations into the Project, with sampling restricted to existing tracks.

Hand auger drilling

Hand auger drilling was completed by Ventnor personnel using a 100 mm screw auger to various depths and 1 m downhole samples were taken (Figure 4). Drilling encountered unconsolidated sand and was terminated whenever holes collapsed or when an iron rich layer was intersected.

Warrawanda Nickel Project

Overview

The Warrawanda Nickel Project is located 60km south of Newman, in the Sylvania Inlier, an Archaean granite-greenstone terrane in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Its main feature is a 16km-long sequence of steeply-dipping rocks dominated by ultramafic and mafic rocks with lesser clastic components, including shale. The rock units intersected are predominantly ultramafic Komatiites with serpentine after olivine, mafic rocks as well as minor fine-grained clastic rocks and felsic dykes.
