The UK blue-chip index ended 36.57 points, or 0.5% higher at 7,445.68, fractionally below the session peak of 7,445.90 and well above the day’s low of 7,372.71
They rose by 0.1% in July, but the market is expected to slow in the coming months as interest rates continue to be hiked
