Taylor Wimpey PLC (LSE:TW.) will showcase prototype homes to investors ahead of a future government scheme aimed at reducing carbon emissions from UK newbuilds.
Institutional investors and analysts will be toured around the FTSE 100-listed housebuilder’s concept development in Sudbury, Suffolk, Taylor Wimpey said in a statement.
“The prototype homes will help identify new ways to increase the energy efficiency of our homes as well as identify the challenges that will need to be overcome to do so at scale,” the company added.
Housebuilders will have to meet new standards on ventilation and energy efficiency under the government’s Future Home Standard, due to be introduced in 2025.
Under the rule change, the government aims to ensure that new homes built from 2025 will emit 75% to 80% less carbon dioxide.
Taylor Wimpey’s trial “seeks to demonstrate how the industry can deliver homes compliant with the incoming Future Home Standard".
“Taylor Wimpey is challenging itself as well as its supply chain partners and working closely with engineers and energy experts to […] meet the requirements,” the firm added.
