Big Picture – A Deep Dive Examination of Jindalee Resources Ltd
Jindalee Resources Ltd Snapshot
Jindalee listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) on 11 July 2002 after raising $2.67M. Jindalee has not been back to the market to raise capital since listing and as a result the Company currently has only 34.9m shares on issue. Jindalee’s Directors are strong supporters and hold approximately 34% of the Company, whilst Teck, a major Canadian mining company, is Jindalee’s third largest shareholder with 5.9% of issued capital.
Lithium has the highest electrochemical potential of any metal, an extremely high co-efficient of thermal expansion, fluxing and catalytic characteristics, and low density. Lithium is highly sought after for a range of industrial uses, in particular energy storage where it is a vital component of most popular battery electrolytes and electrodes. A high charge and power to weight ratio makes lithium ideal for applications where weight is a significant consideration (e.g. electric vehicles, mobile phones, hand tools, drones and robots).
ARIES DIAMOND PROJECT
Jindalee’s Aries project is located in the central Kimberly region of Western Australia, approximately 270km east of Derby. The project comprises a granted Exploration Licence (E80/5027), an exploration licence application (E04/2512), and the diamond rights on an adjacent tenement (E80/5117).
Historically, the Aries kimberlite pipe was discovered in 1986 by Triad Minerals, in joint venture with Freeport, with subsequent exploration undertaken by companies including Thunderlarra, BHP Billiton Minerals and United Kimberley Diamonds (“UKD”).
JOYNERS FIND IRON ORE
The Joyners project is located 40km west of Wiluna in Western Australia and covers the eastern part of the Joyners Find greenstone belt. The project is a joint venture with GWR Group Limited and forms a part of GWR Group’s much larger 126 million tonne Wiluna West iron ore project. At Wiluna West, direct shipping grade (DSO) hematite iron ore averaging around 59% iron has been defined in a series of deposits associated with banded iron formations.
PROSPECT RIDGE PROJECT
Exploration Licence EL5/2016 covering the Arthur River and Lyons River magnesite deposits (“Project”) in north-west Tasmania was granted in September 2016. Geoscience Australia’s website notes that the Arthur-Lyons River area now covered by EL5/2016 contains the third largest inventory of magnesite Economic Demonstrated Resources (EDR) in Australia (refer www.ga.gov.au).
Jindalee has been applying for open ground in the Widgiemooltha district since 2016, with a total of 20 exploration licence applications and 4 live tenements now held. Numerous historic and currently operating gold and nickel mines are present in the district, and significant new discoveries continue to be made (e.g. Invincible – Goldfields, Baloo – S2 Resources). More recently the potential for pegmatite related mineralisation (e.g. lithium, caesium, tantalum and tin) has been identified and adds further prospectivity to the ground already held.
A review of the considerable volume of historic work conducted in the district has commenced to assist in the identification of high priority targets for follow-up as tenements are granted.
