The Group is a leader in cloud-based data analytics, focused on serving the business intelligence marketplace in relation to the Big Data challenge.
Business intelligence aims to improve business insight to support better decision-making by increasing the quality, reliability and visibility of information available to management. In a worldwide study conducted by Gartner, business intelligence was ranked first in the top ten technology priorities for CIOs in 2012.
Rosslyn provides analytical services to its clients by combining four key technologies: data extraction; cleansing; enrichment; and visualization through a single cloud platform enabling users with detailed data to make more informed decisions. Rosslyn’s in house team developed the RAPid platform which delivers cloud technology to customers, and is the Group’s primary product available to customers helping clients solve three core challenges:
1) Data Integration
Problem: Integrating data is extremely time-consuming, and is a manual process, which is hampered by the volume, variety and velocity of data.
Rosslyn Solution: The Rosslyn platform combines and syncs data from 100’s of different sources including common Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) systems such as SAP and Customer Relationship Management (“CRM”) platforms such as Salesforce.
2) Data Transformation
Problem: Complicated, requiring skilled labour – “make your data fit our data model” – e.g. linking all the tables and fields.
Rosslyn Solution: Automatic creation of optimal data model. With the Rosslyn solution, the details of every customer and supplier in the Rosslyn environment can be linked to data sources such as Dunn and Bradstreet, Equifax or [any] open source data on the web. This provides the Group’s customers with a deeper, more dynamic and valuable insight into the business opportunities through the creation of an information network.
Problem: The data is limited to read-only. Enterprise users cannot manipulate and enhance the data in real-time.
Rosslyn Solution: Easy-to-use, intuitive, and fast reporting framework. It allows Enterprises to interact with the data in real-time, providing the user with tools to build charts, tables and apps to visualize the information over a cloud internet connection.
Data is growing exponentially and from a variety of unstructured sources, but Rosslyn is able to handle any type of data and turn it into analytics ready data using its propriety platform. The Cloud-based offering makes the solution easy to integrate and very scalable for the client, as well as offering a high ROI.
Rosslyn uses a subscription model to sell its product, providing a predictable revenue stream and a foundation for further expansion.
Rosslyn has three main channels to market:
1) Direct with its own sales team;
2) Partnerships with Systems Integrators who offer market solutions “built using RAPid”;
3) Strategic tie-ups with large, more traditional Business Intelligence platform providers who leverage Rosslyn as their cloud platform.
Rosslyn currently has approximately 50 blue-chip direct clients, and 40 partners who are reselling or integrating Rosslyn’s technology into their own offerings.
Subscription agreements are typically for a period of 12 months and paid in advance with the revenue recognised over the life of the contract. The cost is determined by factors such as the number of data feeds, named users and each customer’s use of the Group’s cleansing and enrichment services. Customer subscriptions can range from one user to an enterprise deployment of many hundreds and can scale up to thousands.
Where It Is Investing
Rosslyn’s objectives will be to:
- Increase market share;
- Expand global reach;
- Further develop technology;
- Extend product offering.
The Group continues to invest into Research & Development, with Data Scientists focused on IP development, and developers working on integration, data enrichment and the platform.
The sales model is both direct and indirect. To augment the direct sales channel, Rosslyn continues to make investment into Sales & Marketing in the areas of Inside Sales, Field Sales, Partner Management, and Account Management. The Group continues to bolster its US presence with further expansionary investment in that geography.
Charlie Clark - Founder and President
Charlie is a highly experienced and well regarded senior executive. He co-founded Rosslyn Analytics Ltd. and Ockham Capital Ltd. and, prior to this was an investment banker.
Charlie has extensive experience of working with fast growing companies and the capital markets. Consistently recognized as a pioneer and leader in cloud analytics and for his leadership in establishing Rosslyn Analytics, Charlie is also a prolific writer and speaker on the subjects of data management and cloud analytics.
Charlie served with the British Army during Desert Storm and holds an MBA from City University Business School, London, UK. He is a Fellow of the Securities Institute and is an Accredited Associate of the Institute for Independent Business.
John O’Hara - Chairman
John has more than 30 years of experience in the high tech industry as a proven global P&L leader, having held senior positions with some of the world’s biggest companies including Lotus, IBM, Microsoft and, more recently, Pitney Bowes.
As President of Pitney Bowes Software and a corporate officer of Pitney Bowes, John has led global expansion initiatives and was responsible for a number of strategic acquisitions across the UK, Europe and Australia. He has previously worked for Microsoft UK as General Manager, Enterprise and Partner Group where he was responsible for more than $1 billion in revenue, as well as senior roles at IBM, Pivotal Corporation and Lotus Development Group.
John has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Chemistry from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology, Wales and a Master of Science degree from the University of Manchester, UK.
Hugh Cox - Founder, Chief Data Officer
Recognized as one of the UK’s leading data experts by Information Age, Hugh co-founded Rosslyn Analytics Ltd with Charlie Clark. Hugh helps executives at public and private sector organizations tackle business issues through technologies including cloud computing, data management and analytics.
Hugh has authored and spoken extensively on the subject of data analysis with particular focus on fraud prevention and detection, through the deployment of cloud-based analytics platforms.
Prior to establishing Rosslyn Analytics, Hugh held senior positions with COO Investments (EMEA) and Citigroup Private Bank. He also worked for Perot Systems, JP Morgan and Logica.
After leaving the British Army, Hugh took a BSc in Computer Science and an MBA from City University Business School, London, UK.
Roger Bullen - Chief Executive Officer
Roger has more than 20 years of finance, executive and operational leadership experience in technology-based companies, including start-ups, large cap and consulting firms. Roger’s experience covers working with national, US and global based companies.
Roger recently held senior roles with Navigant Consulting Inc. as head of the International Division and Sapient Inc. as VP International Finance. He has also worked with private equity companies and been successful in taking companies to market and trade sale.
Roger has been a shareholder of Rosslyn Analytics Ltd. and subsequently in Rosslyn Data Technologies plc since Charles and Hugh established Rosslyn.
Roger has been a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants since 1990.
Lance Mercereau - Chief Marketing Officer
Lance lives and breathes technology, always thinking of new and innovative ways of exploiting the latest such as cloud computing for the benefit of his customers. Lance started his career 20 years ago at the height of the San Francisco dot.com era, advising start-ups on business strategy, customer acquisition, alliance ecosystems, corporate affairs and brand management.
Known for his aggressive “West Coast Offense” approach to marketing, he subsequently moved to and worked in the United Kingdom and the emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe where he successfully established in-house marketing organizations and launched products and services for award-winning companies such as Agilent, Dell, IBM, Intel and SAP, targeting enterprises, small and medium sized businesses (SMBs) and consumers. After a year away as global head of marketing at a technology-focused business consultancy headquartered in London, Lance rejoined Rosslyn Analytics as its Chief Marketing Officer.
Paul Cook - VP Global Sales
Paul has a wealth of experience in the B2B “e” markets space having held senior / board level positions at Medipurchase, UKprocure, TradingPartners, Aquanima and Zycus.
His experience ranges from Bespoke SaaS-based catalogs to global full suite enterprise applications and services.
A specialist in new business and start-ups, Paul has worked extensively in Northern Europe and the USA.
Paul has previously held the office of CPO for world leading Leisure and Entertainment and is fully qualified MCIPs.
