Proactive mining highlights: Asiamet, East Star, Shanta, and more

Metal Tiger said it had been added to the register of UK AIFMs with effect from 17 November 2022, under the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Regulations 2013.

Following this registration and in light of Metal Tiger’s evolving investment strategy, the board is considering whether a potential move from AIM to the Specialist Fund Segment of the London Stock Exchange would better enable the company to meet its investment objectives, it added.

Power Metal Resources PLC (AIM:POW) said it had completed the transaction to increase its interest in Kalahari Key Minerals to 87.7%.

The London-listed exploration company said Kalahari Key holds a 100% interest in Molopo Farms project in southwestern Botswana, where a large-scale nickel platinum-group metal discovery is being targeted.

Asiamet Resources Ltd (AIM:ARS, OTC:KMGLF) has reworked key parts of the feasibility study for its BKM copper heap leach SX-EW project located in Indonesia to optimise the project and allow for recent inflation.

The junior said the new plan improves the strip ratio with a third less ore being processed though still producing 89% of the original copper cathode target.

UK retail sales data from the ONS is due, following some pretty poor numbers in the past two readings: down 1.7% in August and down 1.4% in September both on a month-on-month basis.

"With the new energy price cap kicking in at the beginning of October it’s not hard to see that consumers have been reining back spending due to uncertainty over the lead up to October, as well as the farce that passes for our political institutions," said Michael Hewson, market analyst at CMC Markets.

East Star Resources PLC (LSE:EST) said five top priority targets were identified from a helicopter-borne electromagnetic (HEM) survey over the company's five volcanic-hosted massive sulphide (VHMS) licences in the Rudny Altai Belt in Kazakhstan.

Four of the five 'Priority 1' targets generated are considered drill-ready, said the London-listed exploration company. Three of the targets are on licences 100%-owned by East Star and two are on the 80%-owned licences held in a joint venture with state-owned mining company, Tau-Ken Samruk.

AfriTin PLC said production from the Uis mine in Namibia rose by 23% in its latest six months as phase 1 of a scheduled ramp-up continued on track.

Commissioning of new processing facilities is now complete, the miner said, with production expected to hit an annualised 1,200tpa by the end of the year.

Landore Resources Ltd (AIM:LND, OTC:LNDLF) said it intersected significant palladium-enriched nickel mineralisation on the Felix-Lamaune prospects at its Junior Lake Property in Ontario, Canada.

Results from the 21.74-metre (m) intersection from one drill hole included 0.34 grammes a tonne (g/t) palladium and 0.11g/t platinum, including 1.45g/t palladium and 0.51g/t platinum over 0.70m and 1.86g/t gold and 0.55% copper over 1.00m.

Shanta Gold Limited (AIM:SHG, OTC:SAAGF) said its latest drilling update from the Isulu deposit in the West Kenya project includes some of the best results it has announced this year.

Visible gold was identified in six intersections from seven holes drilled at the deposit as part of an infill drilling programme aimed at converting inferred resources to the more certain indicated category.

Future Metals NL (ASX:FME, AIM:FME) has delivered near-surface sulphide mineralisation in its ongoing diamond drilling program, providing further evidence for a large nickel-copper-PGE system at its Panton Project in the East Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

Notably, the company intersected heavily disseminated matrix-textured sulphides in the southern holes within broader intervals of more than 40 metres of disseminated sulphides.

East Star Resources PLC (LSE:EST) said it has completed a 1,001-metre (m) reverse circulation drilling programme at the Talairyk heavy rare earths project in Kazakhstan.

Around 90% of the boreholes recorded broad kaolinitic clay zones between 9m and 53m, averaging 32m thickness, said the London-listed exploration company. Kaolinitic clay can potentially host high value heavy rare earth elements (HREE) that can be easily extracted via relatively benign leach solutions.

Mila Resources said it has finished its 2022 drilling programme at Kathleen Valley in Western Australia and assays for the first three of the four drill holes completed have been received.

The three did not return economic widths and grades but have provided strong evidence of pathfinder elements to define the root zone of the system, Mila said.

Centamin PLC (LSE:CEY, TSX:CEE, OTC:CELTF) has revealed that there is potential to expand production at the Sukari gold mine in Egypt to 1.5mln tonnes per year of total ore mined.

This is at the upper end of the previously indicated range and represents a 31% increase in ore mining rates from the current life of mine average of 1.1mln tonnes per year.

This strategic acquisition and earn-in agreement has the potential to expand the NAL resource base and increase future mine production capacity at the nearby operation of SYA subsidiary NAL.

Castillo Copper Ltd (ASX:CCZ) has unearthed significant shallow clay-hosted rare earth elements (REE) at the Broken Hill Alliance (BHA) Project’s East Zone in Far West New South Wales, with assays returning up to 2,410 parts per million (ppm) total rare earth oxides (TREO), with up to 29.9% magnet REOs.

The discovery has prompted the company to shift its strategic focus to the REE mineralisation across the East Zone in light of the growing global demand for rare earth metals.

Condor Gold PLC (AIM:CNR, TSX:COG, OTC:CNDGF) booked a loss before tax for the nine months to the end of September of £1.9mln. The loss for the three month period was £536,000. The company closed out the quarter with £570,000 in cash.

During the period, feasibility study confirmatory metallurgical testwork at the company’s La India project in Nicaragua demonstrated that gold recovery is independent of grade. Accordingly, a fixed gold recovery of 91% assuming a 75 micron grind size is being used in the project economics.

Vast Resources PLC (AIM:VAST) said it has started loading for the planned mid-November concentrate sale from its Baita Plai polymetallic mine in Romania.

The sale will be the largest tonnage delivery made to its offtake partner for a single month, the AIM-listed mining company said in a statement.
