Asiamet Resources Ltd (AIM:ARS) is continuing to refine the project parameters of its BKM copper project in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
The company has now been able to reduce the likely usage of sulphuric acid at BKM by 50%.
In addition, new climate data for the BKM site indicates a reduction in mean annual rainfall assumptions by 18%. This has positive impacts on the modelled site water balance and a reduction in operating and capital costs required to manage and treat site water.
"The delivery of an up-to-date feasibility study for the BKM Copper project is a necessity for advancing project financing,” said Darryn McClelland, chief executive of Asiamet.
The BKM copper project will use sulphuric acid in its heap leach, solvent extraction and electrowinning flowsheet to produce copper metal.
The reduced acid consumption more than offsets the significant increase in unit price for sulphuric acid in 2022, relative to the price used in the 2019 feasibility study.
