Critical Metals PLC (LSE:CRTM) said it appointed John Greeff as mine manager at its Molulu project, an ex-producing copper/cobalt mine, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with immediate effect.
He joins the company as the Molulu project moves into its next stage of development.
Greeff has over 30 years' experience in the mining industry and has held senior management positions across the world, notably in Africa and North America.
He has worked in a range of different mining jurisdictions including Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Canada, South Africa, and Angola and has a detailed understanding of work on the ground at a mine site in various stages of development, said Critical Metals.
Greeff, who has already arrived in the DRC, will help prepare a drill programme based on recent mapping and data collection, it said. Discussions on areas to drill began in late September.
“John's vast experience of working on mining projects in the region will provide valuable knowledge on the ground at Molulu as we continue to build a strong onsite team,” said chief executive Russell Fryer.
“Alongside John, the rest of the team in Molulu are working to repair and prepare the mines infrastructure already of production in the coming months and take steps to prepare the mine for the seasonal rainfall expected in January.”
Critical Metals has a controlling 57% stake in Madini Occidental Ltd, which holds an indirect 70% interest in the Molulu project.
Critical Metals was formed to make investments into operators or near production operators.
