IXICO PLC (LSE:IXI, OTC:PHYOF, FRA:PYPB) has expanded its scientific network in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease, adding three senior specialists to its advisory board and launching new Parkinson’s research collaborations.
The neuroscience imaging and biomarker analytics group said Professor Jeffrey Cummings and Professor Charles DeCarli have joined as Alzheimer’s disease advisers, while Professor Stéphane Lehéricy has joined in the field of Parkinson’s disease.
IXICO has also entered a research collaboration with the Paris Brain Institute to run a prospective study evaluating neuromelanin-sensitive MRI approaches as potential imaging biomarkers for Parkinson’s clinical research. The study will focus on improving MRI acquisition protocols and applying IXICO’s AI-driven analysis to make the emerging technique more robust and reproducible for use in Parkinson’s clinical trials.
Robin Wolz, IXICO’s chief scientific and medical officer, said the company’s proposition is “grounded in science”, adding that work with key opinion leaders helps validate the services and technology it provides to the biopharma industry.
Wolz and IXICO principal biomarker scientist Kirsi Kinnunen have also been invited to take part in The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s MRI Advisory Committee, which is working on the development, standardisation and validation of quantitative MRI biomarkers for Parkinson’s research.
