Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD, XETRA:AMD) reported first quarter results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, supported by strong growth in its data center segment, sending its shares higher after Tuesday's closing bell.

The semiconductor company reported revenue of $10.3 billion, up 38% year-over-year and handily beating estimates of $9.92 billion.

Shopify Inc (TSX:SH., NYSE:SHOP) shares fell sharply on Wednesday, dropping 13.5% after the company reported mixed first quarter 2026 results that paired strong revenue growth with a sizeable loss and guidance that largely met expectations rather than exceeding them.

For the quarter ended March 31, Shopify reported revenue of $3.17 billion, up 34% year over year and ahead of analyst expectations of $3.09 billion.

Shares of Duolingo Inc (NASDAQ:DUOL) fell 7.7% on Tuesday after the language-learning app reported first-quarter results that, while modestly above expectations, were overshadowed by second-quarter guidance pointing to a sharp deceleration in bookings growth.

Duolingo posted first-quarter revenue of $292 million, up 27% year-over-year and ahead of the $289 million analyst estimate, while adjusted EBITDA came in at $83.4 million, reflecting a 28.6% margin.

Alvopetro Energy Ltd (TSX-V:ALV, OTC:ALVOF, FRA:A6Y0) reported average sales volumes of 3,133 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) for April 2026, broadly in line with first quarter levels, according to a company press release.

The majority of output came from the company’s Brazilian operations, where sales averaged 2,953 boepd. This included natural gas production of 16.7 million cubic feet per day (MMcfpd), as well as 155 barrels per day (bopd) of natural gas liquids and 9 bopd of oil.

Hydrogen Utopia International PLC (OTCQB:HUIPF, LSE:HUI) said it is moving into the defence market with Project Fortress Fuel, a proposed system designed to turn domestic waste plastic and end-of-life tyres into JP-8 military aviation fuel and baseload electricity.
