Executive chairman John Prineas said the latest results, comprising 16 drill holes, continued to demonstrate thick zones of mineralisation from surface to depths of around 160 metres. He noted that multiple holes intersected more than 100 metres of high-grade rare earth mineralisation, with grades broadly in line with the company’s existing resource.
Stocks finished sharply lower on Friday, capping off what’s been a volatile and broadly negative week for equities.
The Nasdaq led declines, falling 2% (down 443 points) to 21,648, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped 1% (down 444 points) to 45,577. The S&P 500 dropped 1.5% to 6,506, and the Russell 2000 underperformed, sliding 2.4% to 2,436.
Gold’s recent weakness is a short-term anomaly driven by an oil-induced surge in interest rates and the U.S. dollar, not a breakdown of its long-term safe-haven role.
In this op ed, Frank Holmes, CEO of U.S. Global Investors (NASDAQ:GROW), argues that the real market shock isn’t geopolitical fear itself, but the spike in oil prices, which is feeding inflation expectations and pushing bond yields higher. That dynamic is temporarily pressuring gold. However, the same forces are laying the groundwork for a more supportive environment for gold over time, especially if stagflation risks materialize.
