Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE:OXY) shares rose nearly 4% to $61.76 on Tuesday after a regulatory filing showed that Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway purchased an additional 3.7 million shares in Occidental, one of the largest oil producers in the US, between March 23 and March 27, 2023, valued at about $216 million.

Berkshire also purchased 8 million shares of OXY stock between March 13 and March 16, as well as adding about 6 million shares earlier in the month.

Crescent Point Energy Corp (TSX:CPG) has announced plans to buy Spartan Delta Corp's oil and gas assets in the Montney region of Alberta for C$1.7 billion (US$1.24 billion).

Calgary-based Crescent Point said its 600 new Montney locations are adjacent to the Kaybob Duvernay assets that it bought over the past two years. The locations offer 20 years of drilling inventory and add 38,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) of production capacity.

PVH Corp. (NYSE:PVH) has reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2022 results that beat its guidance and forecast double-digit growth in 2023 earnings, sending its shares more than a fifth higher in early trade.

The owner of brands that include Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger said fourth-quarter revenue increased 2% to $2.49 billion and was 8% higher on a constant currency basis. That was above Wall Street estimates of $2.36 billion and its own guidance for a 4% decrease.

Binance, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, is back in the regulatory crosshairs, this time being accused by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) of “wilful evasion” of US commodities law.

In a statement released by commissioner Kristin N Johnson, the regulator alleged that Binance chief executive Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao and chief compliance officer Samuel Lim were “operating the enterprise through a complex web of firms with the goal of using this operational infrastructure to shield Binance from complying with existing regulations in any of the jurisdictions where the firm operates”.
