The company has acquired a licence for the University of Pennsylvania's entiviral vector plasmid system, a viral vector technology critical for the manufacture of one of the company's main platforms - chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells
“With the initial positive results seen in the Phase 1A clinical trial with our CORE NK Platform cells, we have been eager to accelerate the development opportunities for it,” said Chimeric CEO Jennifer Chow.

The agreement comprises an initial share placement of A$5 million and up to an additional A$30 million in share placements over a 24-month period.

Chimeric expects to use the CORE-NK platform while leveraging its existing portfolio of CARs to pursue new clinical trials in blood cancers and solid tumours beginning in 2023.
The new partnership will enable the company to accelerate clinical manufacturing readiness for new CAR T assets and to scale CAR T manufacturing to support multiple, simultaneous, multicenter CAR T clinical trials in the future.
In eight different in vivo models, including colorectal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer and neuroendocrine tumours, the preclinical data demonstrate efficacy with minimal toxicity.
The company’s CORE NK cell platform demonstrates "safety, substantial efficacy and robust expansion and persistence of universal donor NK cells".

The company has opened the retail component of its rights offer, after raising about $7.37 million from the institutional component.
Proceeds from the rights issue will be used to continue advancement of Chimeric’s cell therapy development program which is expected to see the company with four Phase 1 clinical trials within the next 12 months.
