FTSE100 finished down on Thursday but small cap shares did better. FTSE100 closed down 24.74 to 6,136, while the FTSEAIM 100 added 0.44% to stand at 3,387 and the wider FTSE AIM All-share gained a tad - 0.22%- to stand at 717.020.
UK small caps are heading north mid-morning, in contrast with bigger Footsie, with Connemara Mining PLC the runaway winner.... .
Today, 88 Energy clarified that the D&M report estimates resource potential over the entire 272,000 acres at Project Icewine.
Shares in Ascent Resources are, ironically, down 15%.

Throughout the day Botswana Diamonds and Cyan Holdings competed to be the biggest riser on the day.
FTSE100 is up 47 points at 6,139, while in the smaller indices - FTSE AIM 100 added 0.19% to 3,363 and the FTSE AIM All -share gained 0.29% to stand at 714.220.
UK shares were rather muted at the off but Cyan Holdings PLC was a notable riser - up over 118%.
An independent consultant sees 1.4bn barrels of oil equivalent and sees a 'productive area' amounting to 42% of the Project Icewine area, meanwhile the internal view sees 3.6bn barrels across a larger area of Alaska’s North Slope.
Landore continues to be the star performer, while broker commentary gives glamour stock 88 Energy another lift.
A deal to supply 40mm ammunition to a customer in the Middle East had now been giving the go ahead, and Chemring share shot higher.
Jack Allardyce, analyst at Cenkos, in a note described the HRZ shale found in the Project Icewine well as “a major new play” as he initiated a ‘buy’ recommendation for the AIM quoted explorer.
Ascent Resources collapsed almost 70% because the proposed takeover by Cadogan Petroleum Plc’s (LON:CAD) fell through, as the deal would no longer be worth it.
