It extends the permission for the well site to March 2022.
The company said Horse Hill is producing at around 300 barrels of dry oil per day.
Regulatory approval removes a significant roadblock from progress on the prospect
The reopening of the HH-1 well has revealed that both of Horse Hill's current wells can produce from the Portland reservoir without damaging performance, as a result 'commercial production' can start sooner.
The well flowed some at 1,087 barrels of fluid per day during ‘clean-up’ with oil cuts of up to 60%
It was an active week for London's small-cap oil market with project updates, IPOs, and share placings.
"Horse Hill's first optimally placed horizontal is now poised to enter its next key phase, the eagerly anticipated flow testing campaign,” said UKOG CEO Stephen Sanderson
"We are delighted to have safely and successfully delivered a significant 2,500 ft of horizontal section within the Portland reservoir's sweet-spot, the prime 35 ft zone containing the reservoir's most oil productive sandstones."
The plan is to have both the vertical HH-1 and horizontal HH-2z starting long-term production in late 2019
The vertical pilot section of the Horse Hill 2/2z well is now nearing completion, before some 1,000 metres are cut into the Portland reservoir’s “most productive zone”.
“We are confident that the meticulously planned HH-2/2z operation, the first of two planned horizontal wells in the Portland oil pool, leaves little to chance."
"The journey to long-term oil production at Horse Hill has now begun,” said Stephen Sanderson.
A drill rig will arrive at the Horse Hill site later this month.
UKOG will pay £8mln upfront, comprising £5mln in cash and £3mln in shares. A further £3mln becomes due before the end of the year and then another £1mln before 1 April 2020.
