St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has resumed diamond drilling at its Mt Alexander Project near Leonora in the north-eastern Goldfields of Western Australia.
The expanded phase II program will test a number of conductors identified during recent down-hole electromagnetic (DHEM) surveys, thought to represent nickel-copper sulphides.
The 4,000+ metres of drilling includes the recently discovered MAD111: X1 target which has a conductivity measurement of 140,000 Siemens.

St George’s executive chairman John Prineas said: “We are excited that drilling is again underway at Mt Alexander, with our drilling contractor DDH1 Drilling operating on a 24/7 basis with a double shift.
“Multiple intersections of high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt-PGE mineralisation have been made at Investigators but, with very little drilling below 200 metres, we have only scratched the surface.
“The initial results from the first deep drilling at Investigators support our geological model that mineralisation continues at depth in the northerly plunge direction.
“This warrants an escalation of the drill program at Investigators with a range of targets that we believe will expand the footprint of sulphide mineralisation there.”

This phase II program follows recent success at the Investigators prospects which identified significant down plunge extensions of massive sulphide mineralisation.
The first drill hole in the phase II program will test for an extension of the massive nickel-copper sulphides intersected in drill hole MAD108.
Drill hole MAD114 being drilled
Drill hole MAD114 is currently being drilled and will test for an extension of the massive sulphides intersected in MAD108.
MAD108 intersected 7.55 metres of sulphide mineralisation from 199.75 metres depth and the DHEM survey conducted on this hole detected a strong target to the west.
