Krakatoa Resources hits high-grade gold and antimony at Zopkhito

Krakatoa Resources Ltd (ASX:KTA, LSE:, AIM:) has delivered high-grade gold and antimony from the first batch of assays from its 2026 drilling program at the Zopkhito Antimony-Gold Project in Georgia.

The standout result came from DD26ZOP001, which returned 1.8 metres at 11.09 g/t gold and 3.56% antimony from 52.6 metres, including 1.15 metres at 10.86 g/t gold and 5.51% antimony.

Other notable intersections included:

  • 2.83 metres at 3.26 g/t gold and 5.72% antimony from 43.99 metres in DD26ZOP002, including 0.61 metres at 15.3% antimony; and
  • 6.74 metres at 4.71 g/t gold and 0.88% antimony from 74.42 metres, including 2.68 metres at 7.06 g/t gold and 1.41% antimony.

Notably, Peak individual sample assays reached 17.1 g/t gold and 15.3% antimony.

Results support historical model

Krakatoa's latest assays were consistent with results from its 2025 drilling and with historical exploration data, supporting the continuity of the mineralised system.

The 2026 program is designed to help validate and ultimately convert the project’s foreign resource estimate into a JORC 2012-compliant Mineral Resource Estimate.

Zopkhito currently has a foreign estimate of 225,000 tonnes at 11.6% antimony and 7.1 million tonnes at 3.7 g/t gold, although this estimate is not reported in accordance with the JORC 2012 Code and remains subject to further evaluation and exploration.

Chief executive Mark Major said the results demonstrated the scale and grade potential of the deposit.

“There is clearly a major antimony and gold mineral system here,” he said.

Major highlighted the identification of mineralisation at Vein 50, which lies outside the current foreign estimate, as evidence of potential for a broader system beyond historically defined areas.

New zones emerge outside foreign estimate

Underground coring has also returned encouraging results from Veins 10 and 50.

Vein 50 produced gold values of up to 5.9 g/t over 0.25 metres, along with antimony grading 1.93% over 0.86 metres. Veins 50 and 61 are not included in the historical foreign resource estimate, opening the possibility of additional mineralisation outside the existing footprint.

Krakatoa's Vein 6 was intersected in all four surface holes in the latest assay batch, confirming both gold and antimony mineralisation and supporting geological trends interpreted from historical Soviet-era exploration.

Drilling and metallurgical work continue

Surface diamond drilling and underground coring are continuing, with two more batches of core already at the laboratory and further samples on the way.

Krakatoa also plans reconnaissance work over other prospects within the licence area, including the Sagebi antimony-tungsten area southeast of Zopkhito and the Devrushi copper zone to the southwest.

Metallurgical sampling has commenced ahead of optimisation test work and studies scheduled to begin in October, while environmental baseline studies and permitting activities are continuing in parallel.
