Deutsche Bank upgrades RS Group price target amid strong demand data

RS Group PLC (LSE:RS1) received a higher price target from Deutsche Bank on Monday, as the research note highlighted recovery and re-rating potential for the distributor.

Shares were trading at 759p, up 2% on the day, as Deutsche Bank retained its 'buy' rating on the stock.

At the heart of the note, the bank stated that RS Group’s July annual general meeting update indicated a solid start to the 2027 financial year with positive momentum.

Despite that encouraging start, the analysts noted that management appeared mindful that some demand could represent pull-forward against a backdrop of geopolitical disruption.

That specific underlying caution ultimately limited the executive team's conviction in signalling an improved outlook following the summer update.

Moving past the initial update, lead indicators have remained positive since that date, reducing the likelihood that demand pull-forward has temporarily supported growth.

Taking those resilient external indicators into account, the bank raised its target price on the shares to 850p from 775p.

Turning toward the issue of financial visibility, the bank noted that RS Group no longer discloses quarterly like-for-like growth metrics to the market.

This change in the corporate reporting framework clearly results in fewer data points for consensus estimates to anchor to over the trading year.

The analysts warned that this specific dynamic increases the risk of forecast error when market conditions change.

In the current environment, Deutsche Bank firmly believes that consensus may actually be understating the improving cycle backdrop.
