Rome Resources unearths new mineralised zones at Kalayi

Rome Resources Plc (AIM:RMR) told investors it has identified two new mineralised zones and an undrilled extension of the high-grade tin trend at its Kalayi deposit in the Democratic Republic of Congo, adding targets for resource growth beyond its forthcoming mineral resource estimate.

Independent consultant MSA Group identified the new MINZ8 and MINZ9 zones, which are currently supported by a single drill intersection in borehole KBDD033. The hole previously returned a 19.5-metre downhole intercept averaging 0.52%, alongside additional shallower intercepts.

Further drilling will be required to establish continuity, meaning MINZ8 and MINZ9 will not be included in the updated Kalayi mineral resource estimate now being finalised. Separately, MSA's block model identified what Rome described as a substantial undrilled continuation of the high-grade tin trend southeast of existing drilling.

Chief executive Paul Barrett said the discoveries give Rome “clear targets for the next phase of drilling and further resource growth at Kalayi”.

Across the wider Bisie North project, Southern Geoscience is interpreting a recently completed airborne geophysical survey, with results expected by the end of September. Rome also said initial surface sampling at its optioned New Brunswick tin-tungsten-indium project in Canada had produced encouraging results, with follow-up trenching underway.
