Arc Minerals Limited (AIM:ARCM, OTC:ACMNF, FRA:DFYA) said an imminent diamond drilling campaign at its Virgo copper project in Botswana is expected to exceed 6,000 metres, targeting prospects close to MMG’s Khoemacau mining project.
The AIM-listed explorer has appointed G D E Botswana Drilling & Exploration, known as Global Drill, to undertake the phased programme at licence PL135/2017 in the Zone 5 corridor of the Kalahari Copper Belt.
Drilling will test targets along around 14 kilometres of interpreted D’kar-Ngwako Pan Formation contact identified through Arc’s recent induced polarisation survey. Priority areas include the South Fold, where drilling will test the extension east of discovery hole DD004, the Central area and Zone 9.
At Zone 9, Arc is targeting near-surface extensions of mineralisation that MMG has intersected at depth on its side of the licence boundary. Drill core will be analysed using portable XRF before selected samples are sent for laboratory assay.
Chief executive Rémy Welschinger highlighted Arc’s position “meters away from recent priority copper discoveries” within MMG’s Khoemacau project.
