London BTC Company Ltd (LSE:BTC, OTCQB:VINZF) told investors it has staked its first US gold project, marking the first move under a planned strategy to build hard-asset gold exposure alongside its Bitcoin treasury and mining operations.
The company has secured 111 mineral claims at the Huntington-Whitman Gold-Silver Project in Humboldt County, Nevada, through its wholly owned US subsidiary Tethered Gold LLC.
The claims cover 2,293 acres, or 9.3 sq km, around 30 km north of Winnemucca. Huntington-Whitman sits in a long-established Nevada gold district, around 3 miles from the Sleeper Mine and 0.75 miles from the historic Jumbo Deposit. London BTC said the ground includes 13 shafts, 9 tunnels or adits, and 70 exploration pits, giving it immediate targets for follow-up exploration.
Surface sampling is already underway, with field teams prioritising historical shafts and tunnels across the project area. Assays are expected by mid-June, while the company said next steps include modern surface sampling, geoscientific data compilation and permitting work aimed at advancing towards drilling.
Chief executive Hewie Rattray said Huntington-Whitman was “an important first step” in delivering the US gold hedging strategy set out in April. Further project staking in Nevada and Arizona is also being advanced by technical adviser Schiehallion Consulting.
