The S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Index (ASX: XSO) slipped 43.7 points, or 1.25%, to close at 3,461.5 yesterday and has eased a further 5.1 points, or 0.15%, over the past five trading days as investors continued to weigh risk sentiment across the small-cap sector.

Despite the softer broader market performance, several junior explorers have delivered operational updates this morning, highlighting drilling progress, resource expansion potential and new exploration targets across gold, rare earths and critical minerals projects.

Amneal Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:AMRX) said on Thursday the US Food and Drug Administration has approved its romidepsin injection solution, 27.5 mg/5.5 mL, in single-dose, ready-to-use vials.

The product is eligible for Competitive Generic Therapy (CGT) designation, giving Amneal 180 days of market exclusivity. The New Jersey-based company said it has received more CGT approvals than any other company since the FDA began tracking the designations in 2018.

Trillion Energy International Inc. (CSE:TCF, OTCQB:TRLEF, FRA:Z620) is stepping up its push into an underexplored onshore oil block in southeastern Türkiye, making a second cash payment of US$250,000 toward its earn-in obligations on the M47c,d Concession as it prepares an upcoming seismic program expected to unlock new drilling targets.

The payment brings total earn-in payments to US$500,000 against the company's US$9.5 million work program commitment, through which it is earning a 29% participating interest in the block, located in the Cudi-Gabar petroleum province.

Petco Health and Wellness Co (NASDAQ:WOOF) reported a wider-than-expected net loss in its first quarter even as revenue edged past estimates, sending shares down nearly 13% in premarket trading Thursday.

The pet retailer posted net sales of $1.5 billion for the quarter ended May 2025, up 0.2% year-over-year and slightly above the $1.49 billion analysts had forecast.

Gunnison Copper Corp (TSX:GCU, OTCQB:GCUMF, FRA:3XS0) has announced plans for a district-wide drilling program at its Gunnison copper project, including the Strong & Harris satellite deposit, in Arizona's Cochise Mining District.

The company said the program has been fully contracted and committed, with drill rig mobilization expected to begin this month.

Longspur Research has initiated coverage of Gelion PLC (AIM:GELN, OTC:GELNF, FRA:X0S), the battery materials company, with a central case valuation of 153p per share, representing nearly eight times the current share price of 19.25p.

The broker's bullish case rests on Gelion's proprietary nano-encapsulated sulfur cathode active material, a technology it says can produce batteries that outperform conventional lithium-ion chemistries while costing less to manufacture, even when made in the West.

First Graphene will acquire MITO's product lines, manufacturing equipment, client agreements and intellectual property under an agreement valued at A$850,000, comprising A$275,000 in cash and up to A$575,000 in performance-linked shares.
