AuMEGA Metals Ltd (ASX:AAM, TSX:AUM, OTCQB:AUMMF, FRA:FRA: MA30) has mobilised field crews to southwestern Newfoundland and Labrador, kicking off a major 2026 exploration campaign that will lead into diamond drilling at priority gold and critical minerals targets along the Cape Ray Shear Zone.
Drilling is expected to begin within weeks, subject to weather conditions, following an initial phase of geological mapping, channel sampling and geochemical work designed to refine drill targets. The company is also well financed having secured C$30.1M (AU$30.3M) to fund its expanded Newfoundland exploration push.
Field activities were delayed by around one month due to lingering winter conditions in Newfoundland, but exploration teams are now active on site.
Isle aux Morts Granite first drilling focus
The initial focus of the 2026 program is the Isle aux Morts Granite (IAMG) within AuMEGA's Cape Ray district tenure, where the company has identified a large, underexplored intrusive body associated with coincident gold, copper, molybdenum and bismuth geochemical anomalies extending across a multi-kilometre footprint.

AuMEGA plans to undertake detailed geological mapping, channel sampling and infill till geochemistry across the target area to accelerate drill target generation ahead of diamond drilling. The company expects the IAMG to be a central focus of exploration throughout the year.
Managing director and CEO Sam Pazuki described the target as a major priority, citing its scale and the strength of geological and geochemical indicators identified to date.

Bunker Hill work to support late-summer drilling
Later in the field season, exploration activities will shift to the Bunker Hill prospect along the Branch Fault Corridor, a significant structural offshoot of the Cape Ray Shear Zone.
The program will include geological mapping and sampling aimed at expanding the known Branch Fault anomaly footprint and identifying additional drill-ready targets. Drilling at Bunker Hill is expected to commence in late summer following completion of the groundwork.

AuMEGA controls a district-scale land position spanning 110 kilometres along the Cape Ray-Valentine Shear Zone, immediately along strike from Equinox Gold's Valentine Mine. The company said its 2026 strategy is centred on systematically advancing its highest-priority targets through exploration and drilling.
With field programs now underway, the next key milestone will be the start of diamond drilling at the Isle aux Morts Granite, followed by drilling at Bunker Hill later in the season as the company seeks to identify a major new gold discovery within the district.
