Filtronic PLC (LSE:FTC) has won a £47.3 million ($62.5 million) order from Elon Musk's SpaceX, its largest ever single order.
The order for its proprietary gallium nitride (GaN) E-band product, delivering more than double the output power of existing gallium arsenide radio frequency systems, is up from a £32.5 million purchase in June, a £16.8 million contract win in February and a £6.4 million production order last August.
First units from this contract will ship in the 2027 financial year, the Country Durham firm said, expected to deliver "material revenues" in that year and 2028.
Following the initial issue of warrants to SpaceX in March, as part of what it called the "strategic partnership" between the two companies, these warrants have been extended to include the E Band GaN alongside other bands in development.
Vesting terms for the warrants criteria have been amended so that SpaceX must double the volume of products required for full vesting and now vests on product delivery rather than on the placement of the purchase order, "ensuring closer strategic alignment in the outlook period".

The company also included a quote from Starlink's engineering chief, Mike Nicholls, saying "Filtronic is a valuable partner to SpaceX, and has been an important contributor to the rollout and success of the Starlink constellation".
