While reporting season is tailing off a bit for blue chips, there's still plenty on the menu for investors to chew over in the coming week, starting with caterer Compass, along with Kingfisher, Johnson Matthey, Virgin Money and AO World.
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt's midweek autumn statement – not a mini-budget like it was called last year – should also be interesting, given a general election is looming and government funds may not allow a blowout full spring Budget next year.
There are also some other key macroeconomic events, including 'flash' PMI surveys and US Fed minutes, plus a capital markets events for British Airways owner IAG.

Causing worries for exposed firms in the run-up to the festive season, uncertainties posed by conflict in the Middle East and accelerating energy and fuel costs saw GfK's long-running index to screech nine points lower for October, the lowest in well over a year.
