The Santander Group is a Spanish banking group centred on Banco Santander SA. As its name suggests, the company originated in Santander, Cantabria, Spain. It has a British arm, Santander UK Group Holdings Plc, built around the acquisitions of Abbey National in 2004, Alliance & Leicester in 2008 and Bradford & Bingley in 2010.
