Lithium Australia partner identifies 18 lithium targets at Greenbushes South in Western Australia

Joint venture partner Galan Lithium Ltd has discovered key targets for lithium pegmatite mineralisation at Greenbushes South, delineating a 200-metre by 40-metre outcropping pegmatite lens in follow-up sampling and mapping.

Lithium Australia Ltd (ASX:LIT, OTC:LMMFF)’s joint venture (JV) partner Galan Lithium Ltd (ASX:GLN) has discovered 18 key target zones for lithium pegmatite mineralisation at the Greenbushes South Lithium Project in Western Australia, interpreted from airborne radiometric, magnetic and digital Elevation Model DEM survey data.

Of these pegmatite targets, 12 are on current Greenbushes South tenements while six are on pending licences, all within the Donny-Brook Bridgetown Shear Zone (DBSZ).

Follow-up mapping and sampling at the first target sight (GS11) revealed a 200-metre by 40-metre outcropping pegmatite lens, from which soil and rock chip samples have been taken for geochemical analysis.

Potential pegmatite target locations for follow-up exploration activities with the first key target site sampled and mapped being GS11. Pink line highlights inferred trace of the Donny-Brook Bridgetown Shear Zone.

The joint venture partners have planned further fieldwork for GS11 and other key sites, expected to be executed in July.

Conservation management plan

Lithium Australia and Galan have received the final revisions from the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) for the conservation management plan (CMP) concerning planned exploration activities on pending Greenbushes South tenements (E70/4889, P70/1702 & P70/1703).

The CMP outlines the proposed exploration and prospecting activities, management and communications for work within the Hester State Forest and Proposed Nature Reserve. The JV intends to undertake soil sampling and ground geophysical surveying within these state forests.

DBCA has indicated that subject to the final revisions of the CMP, the pending tenements will then be submitted for ministerial approval to undertake these low-impact exploration activities.
