Neuroimaging specialist IXICO PLC (AIM:IXI, OTC:PHYOF) has won its third Huntington’s Disease (HD) contract in the space of two months.
It is part of a consortium of biopharma businesses and charities developing imaging biomarkers (tell-tale signs) that could lead to early detection of the degenerative brain condition.
The contract, worth around £900,000, will see IXICO deliver its analysis via its deep learning-based IXIQ.Ai platform.
The data will allow researchers to stratify (sort) HD patients into certain groups while also helping drug companies understand the efficacy of potential new treatments.
“Applying the latest image analysis and artificial intelligence techniques to this large dataset of HD natural history data, will enable us to create new insights and standards towards the implementation of precision medicine approaches in HD trials that we expect to be of great value to the HD community,” said IXICO chief executive, Giulio Cerroni.
