AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF, ETR:QC8) said one of its hydrogen fuel cells will be showcased at Air One, the flying taxi airport that opened in Coventry last week.
One of its hydrogen batteries will be used to charge Air One’s fleet of electric vehicles (EVs), following on from an agreement signed between AFC and Urban-Air Port last September.
The site is the “world’s first fully operational hub” for electric airborne vehicles and is designed to demonstrate how sustainable air travel can reduce congestion, pollution and carbon, according to a statement.
AFC and Urban-Air Port will “look to expand their partnership to support wider integration of sustainable power systems” within Urban-Air Port Hubs, which plans to develop 200 of the sites over the next five years.
"AFC Energy is pleased to be partnering with Urban-Air Port in support of its bold vision to decarbonise air and ground-based transportation through its modular hub ecosystems in both dense urban and remote locations,” said AFC chief executive Adam Bond.
Hydrogen technology specialist AFC launched its ‘Power Tower’ EV charging system earlier this month, which aims to provide off-grid charging capabilities.
