AFC Energy launches hydrogen-fueled charging point for EVs

The tower is specifically designed for electric vehicle (EV) charging

AFC Energy PLC (AIM:AFC, OTC:AFGYF, ETR:QC8) said it launched its new hydrogen-fueled ‘Power Tower EV’, a charging point for Electric Vehicles (EVs).

The latest model is a variant of the ‘Power Tower’ launched last month and integrates partner ABB’s Terra AC charging solution, a wall-mounted EV charger, for the first time.

ABB, a Swiss technology giant operating in the robotics, power, and automation sectors, has invested in and worked alongside AFC since 2020.

The new tower aims to provide permanent or temporary installations with clean power where grid-based EV charging infrastructure is unavailable and “addresses several challenges faced in the UK’s EV charging infrastructure, such as underinvestment".

Festivals, sporting events or construction sites can all use the Power Tower EV, which can also be powered by methanol.

“The electrification of mobility is a key pillar of today's decarbonisation agenda and with growing EV adoption, charging infrastructure challenges continue to highlight the incremental investment to give full effect to this transition over the short to medium term,” said chief executive Adam Bond.
