Strickland Metals Ltd (ASX:STK) has gained confidence in the continuity and size of the Millrose Project’s gold system with more thick intersections of gold prompting the company to recruit additional geologists in an effort to expand drilling activities.
Millrose’s latest stand-out intercepts include 2 metres at 10.9 g/t gold from 58 metres of depth, and a wide intersection of 25 metres at 5.1 g/t gold from 82 metres.
These results originate from just 200 metres to the south of a previously reported intersection of 55 metres at 2.4 g/t gold from 86 metres of depth, intersecting the same ore zone and demonstrating both the continuity and high-grade nature of the domain.
That continuity of mineralisation was further reinforced by reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drilling results, which indicate the central and northern extension targets at Millrose are contiguous with the primary ore zone.
Results raise confidence in large gold system
“After last week’s release of the assay in MRRC089 (55 metres at 2.4g/t gold from 86 metres), it’s fantastic to be able to release this follow up result of 25 metres at 5.1g/t gold from 82 metres,” Strickland Metals CEO Andrew Bray said.
“The fact this hole intersected the same primary high-grade domain 200 metres to the south gives the company further confidence that we are dealing with a very substantial gold system.
“The drilling to date has contributed enormously to our understanding of the geology. It appears the banded iron formation (BIF) unit in the footwall is a key marker horizon for the gold mineralisation.
“Previous magnetic surveys highlight this BIF unit extending for over 8 kilometres, with possible further offset extensions to the north.
“Visual observations from diamond core and RC drill chips to the south and north of the current assays appear to confirm this interpretation of the geology. It’s also supported by the presence of visible gold in MRDD011, which is 500 metres south of the assay released today (see announcement 19 April 2022), further suggesting continuity of the system.

“Based on this new exploration model, our drilling program has been altered to now focus on determining the lateral extent of the mineralisation.
“The RC and diamond rigs will continue to follow the main shear zone to the north and south, before returning to complete the planned mineral resource drill-out.
“In line with this expanded program, the company is looking to add additional rigs to Millrose to expedite extensional drilling along the shear zone. Further updates will be provided in due course.”
The Millrose project currently hosts a reported JORC compliant mineral resource of 6 million tonnes at 1.8g/t gold for 346,000 ounces contained gold, a resource Strickland no doubt hopes to add to with further drilling campaigns.
