Economic news and ex-dividends will make the headlines tomorrow as the rush of company announcements slows to a modest trickle.
Unchanged growth of 1% is being forecast for UK GDP in the final revision for the fourth quarter of 2021 and any major amendment would be a shock.
Nestling among the raft of companies going ex-div tomorrow, meanwhile, is the shopping centre group Hammerson, which if nothing else is another sign of how well the economy has recovered from Covid.
There were real fears for Hammerson’s survival at the height of the pandemic.
Elsewhere acquisitive ad-man Martin Sorrell will likely be popping up everywhere to explain his digital marketing group S4 Capital PLC (LSE:SFOR)’s annual results.
In January, he said that like-for-like revenue and gross profit/net revenue growth were well ahead of company guidance of 40% while underlying margins had improved significantly in the second half.
Provident Financial (LSE:PFG) Group Plc publishes full-year earnings on the same day, with Shore Capital’s Gary Greenwood expecting the company to swing back to profit.
A trading update in January led Greenwood to raise his forecasts of adjusted ongoing profit before tax by roughly £20mln to £166mln, with a dividend of 13p also expected.
