IXICO PLC (AIM:IXI, OTC:PHYOF) was awarded a contract for an open-label phase 1b/2 Huntington's disease (HD) trial worth approximately £800,000.
The neuroscience and neuroimaging analysis experts will evaluate the safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy of the US biotech client's gene-therapy drug candidate in adult subjects with early manifest HD, it said.
"We are delighted to play an important role in the development of this exciting gene therapy in a disease area we know extremely well and where we will deploy both our MRI and PET expertise," Chris Hamilton, IXICO commercial senior vice president, said.
This trial, which is expected to run for over five years, is the company's second study for the client after winning a 2021 contract following a Multiple System Atrophy study.
The company has vast experience in supporting HD trials and has developed and validated disease-optimised analytics technology, it added.
