SkinBio to use social media influencers to accelerate launch of psoriasis treatment

Psoriasis brand AxisBiotix-Ps is hoped to reach at least 1.2 million people on social media

SkinBioTherapeutics PLC (AIM:SBTX) plans to accelerate the rollout of its psoriasis treatment with the help of social media influencers.

The life science business said the social media strategy should help meet its target of £1.2m in sales for its AxisBiotix-Ps food supplement in the year to June.

The second-stage launch will involve direct-to-consumer commercialisation by recruiting UK-based influencers with psoriasis to market its brand on social media sites.

The influencers, who have a combined following of over 1.4 million people, will use and actively promote AxisBiotix-Ps to their followers.

“We have enlisted a number of high-profile psoriasis 'influencers' to use and promote the product as part of a wider multi-media marketing campaign which we believe should generate significant interest in the product,” said Stuart J. Ashman, chief executive officer of SkinBio.

The launch followed a ‘soft’ rollout of the brand in October, with minimal spending towards marketing.

SkinBio said this style of launch allowed it to test the sales and distribution process at low volumes to ensure a continuous and scalable supply line for customers.

The SkinBio share price, 51p at close yesterday, has ballooned 37.8% through the week.
