Animoca Brands Corporation Ltd subsidiary, The Sandbox, has partnered with Honk Kong’s renowned Ocean Park to create groundbreaking digital entertainment in the virtual world of NFTs and gaming.
Ocean Park celebrates 45 years, looks to the future
Since its opening in 1977, Ocean Park has grown from being a unique Hong Kong theme park and has developed into a world class attraction, connecting people with nature.
Now, the park is adopting the world of the metaverse, offering a new way to engage consumers.
“Not only are we revamping the Park into brand-new retail, dining and entertainment, wellness and adventure zones, but we are also heading into the metaverse to reimagine the way we engage consumers, the way they connect with one another, and their adventures at Ocean Park,” Ocean Park CEO Ivan Wong said.
Following The Sandbox’s recent partnership with gaming giant Ubisoft, it’s clear that decentralised virtual gaming has entered a new era of growth.

New realm of virtual possibilities
The Sandbox metaverse offers players an intuitive platform to create immersive 3D worlds, as well as safely store, trade and even monetise their creations.
But it’s not just gaming that The Sandbox can be used for.
In January, multiple Hong Kong partners from the film, music, entertainment, acting, professional services, finance, and real estate sectors were added to create ‘Mega City’, a type of cultural hub in the metaverse.
COO and Co-Founder of The Sandbox Sebastien Borget said Ocean Park plays an iconic role in Hong Kong’s cultural and entertainment landscape.
“We will work with them on setting the first example of how entertainment can be leveraged with NFTs and play-and-earn to engage and reward both local visitors and those from around the globe."
