Jindalee Resources Ltd (ASX:JRL)’s proof-of-concept drilling campaign at its Clayton North Project in the US has confirmed anomalous lithium results from surface soil sampling, intersecting fine-grained siltsone and claystone – the preferred lithological host for lithium – at 24.4 metres depth.
Six holes of the proposed 12-hole program scouted the sub-surface potential for lithium at the project. Intercepts from hole CNDD012 that struck notable lithium include:
- 6.1 metres at 1,093 parts per million (ppm) lithium from 24.4 metres depth, including 3.05 metres at 1,205ppm lithium from 27.4 metres; and
- 11.2 metres at 1,006 ppm lithium from 33.6 metres depth.
The remaining five holes intersected coarse gravel and conglomerate sedimentary units with minor lithium mineralisation. The geologic model was revised on-site as the holes were drilled and it was decided the remaining holes would not be drilled.
Completed holes were diamond drilled. Drill core and surface mapping data will be used to revise the mineralisation model at Clayton North and inform future work programs.
Encouraged by initial results, Jindalee has opted to expand its project area by pegging additional pacer claims to the southeast.
Additionally, Jindalee has received a key drill permit at the McDermitt Project and drilling is expected to begin in the next fortnight.

The discovery of extensive mineralisation in the first drill program at McDermitt in 2018 has seen Jindalee focus on resource definition activities at this project.
This culminated in April 2021 with an indicated and inferred mineral resource of 1.43 billion tonnes at 1,320ppm lithium for a total 10.1 million tonnes of Lithium Carbonate Equivalent (LCE) at a 1,000ppm lithium cut-off grade.
