Twenty Seven Co Ltd (ASX:TSC) has pinpointed a suite of lithium-bearing pegmatites at its 100%-owned Trident Project north of Broken Hill in Far West New South Wales.
All up, 152 rock chip samples were cherrypicked from the tenement’s northern end, with potential lithium, caesium and tantalum (with niobium) and tin pegmatites visually identified by TSC’s field crew.
All samples were shipped off to a South Australian lab for a closer look, with the first assays expected in November or early December.
Once received, the Trident results will help TSC determine its future work program.

Commenting on the initial observations from the Trident sampling program, CEO Simon Phillips said: “We are pleased with the initial observations from our first round of sampling at Trident, which so far validates encouraging historical results and supports our belief that Trident has very clear potential to host lithium-bearing pegmatites.
“In addition to the presence of lithium and tin, our team has also reported evidence of copper mineralisation in the form of malachite and azurite which is very encouraging.
“The Trident Project remains significantly underexplored and continues to shape as an exciting opportunity for TSC, and we look forward to providing regular updates on exploration progress over the coming months.”
Understanding Trident’s geology
In the past, the TSC crew completed a comprehensive data review, bringing together historical workings to discover new lithium and tin targets.
Specifically, the geochemical anomalies have coincidental lithium, caesium and tantalum, give or take niobium and tin, which suggest the presence of lithium-caesium-tantalum (LCT) pegmatites.
Past explorers have sampled these pegmatites, indicating lithium occurrences within amblygonite and lesser spodumene — important minerals for lithium mining.
During the program, TSC analysed a series of historical rock chip samples, with one from the Triumph Mine prospect returning as much as 7.63% lithium oxide.
Other targets returned:
- Lady Don Mine: 4.45% lithium oxide;
- Trident Mine: 3.88%;
- Sceptre Mine: 1.56%; and
- Esams No.2 Mine: 1.05%.
With rock chip sampling over Trident’s most prospective region now complete, TSC has visually identified pegmatites with evidence of lithium and tin-bearing minerals, such as cassiterite.
Numerous samples also point to copper mineralisation in the form of malachite and azurite.
Next on the agenda
In the months ahead, TSC will plan its future work program based on the Trident assays.
It will also explore the nearby Perseus Project once mustering allows access.
Outside of New South Wales, the multi-element explorer is readying for a drilling campaign over its Rover Project in WA.
The exploration program will turn the soil on some of the gold and copper asset’s key anomalies, while a geochemical sampling program begins over its Edale shear.
Last month, Phillips said: “TSC has a busy pipeline of activity planned across its NSW and WA projects in the months to come and I look forward to updating our shareholders further in due course.”
