PVW Resources NL (ASX:PVW) has received strong gold assays from its aircore and auger drilling campaign over three key prospects within the Kalgoorlie Project in Western Australia.
The explorer has reported on findings from the Black Flag, Pappy and King of The West targets, advancing two gold anomalies and an auger program.
Looking ahead, PVW intends to conduct further aircore drilling to test new auger anomalies at the Kalgoorlie Project in September.
Earlier on Monday, PVW also unveiled results from its Tanami Project’s Killi Killi prospect, where a fieldwork program continues to firm up the asset’s rare earth element potential.
Black Flag prospect
So far, aircore activity at the Black Flag prospect has confirmed a series of mineralised structures within the felsic intrusive, with the first phase of drilling confirming a significant gold anomalism within the bedrock.
Some of the best results include:
- 3 metres at 1.84 g/t gold from 45 metres;
- 4 metres at 1.04 g/t from 40 metres;
- 4 metres at 1.2 g/t from 60 metres; and
- 7 metres at 0.88 g/t from 43 metres, including 2 metres at 1.78 g/t from 43 metres.
As an immediate follow up to the significant intercepts, an aircore drill rig will infill between holes on existing lines.
Beyond this, reverse circulation drilling will be required to follow up within the fresh rock.
Due to wet ground conditions, three of the proposed drill sections were only partially completed, with these portions slated to finalise later this month.
Next steps
Following exploration at Black Flag, bottom of hole samples from the prospect have been submitted for multi-element analysis, which will be interpreted once all assays have been returned.
Meanwhile, resampling of anomalous composite samples has been completed and PVW vows to update the market as results are received.
While some historical results have since been followed up with systematic aircore exploration, there are still numerous point anomalies that also require further targeting.
To date, drilling has focused on historical gold results, located mostly on the eastern side of the Goldfields Highway.
Future campaigns will include exploration on the western side of the highway, where greenstones are strongly deformed and sit along strike from the Panglo gold deposit.
Ultimately, using systematic aircore drilling to evaluate the main anomalous trend has confirmed the bedrock anomaly at Black Flag.
It also indicates more detailed, deeper drilling and interpretation is needed to understand the prospect’s full potential.
Pappy prospect
Beyond the Black Flag prospect, PVW has also returned assays from the Pappy prospect, where auger drilling returned anomalous assays over a 3.5-kilometre strike length.
Centred on positive results traversing one of the Kalgoorlie Project’s exploration licences, the Pappy prospect is a coherent anomaly with 2.2 kilometres of strike that bears more than 50 parts per billion gold.
This and other anomalies along strike, and on adjacent trends, provide multiple exploration drill targets to test in upcoming drilling programs.
King of the West prospect
Meanwhile, at King of The West, auger drilling to extend the 400-metre by 100-metre spaced coverage south of the prospect’s auger anomalies has been completed.
Samples of the prospect's carbonate horizon, generally ranging from 0.5 metres to 1.5 metres deep, have been sent for gold and multi-element analysis.
Results from this program are expected in roughly four to six weeks.
Ultimately, PVW believes the scale of the anomalies identified at King of The West is significant, with three anomalies reporting more thsn 3 kilometres in strike and up to 1.2 kilometres wide.
The prospect’s proximity to known, granite-hosted gold mineralisation makes it a high priority for aircore exploration in the coming quarter.
