Guild Esports audience figures reach major milestone

The company said the number of fans that actively subscribe to or consume its content surged 533% over the last five months, hitting its 1mln milestone two months ahead of schedule

Guild Esports PLC (LSE:GILD, OTC:GULDF, FRA:GU0) (LSE:GILD) said it has achieved a major milestone with its ‘owned-audience’ surpassing one million across all of its social channels two months ahead of schedule.

The esports team organiser and lifestyle brand said as of August 6, its owned audience, which covers all of its fans that actively subscribe to or consume content produced directly by the company, stood at around 1.01mln compared to 160,000 at the end of March, an increase of 533% over the last five months, making Guild one of the world’s fastest-growing esports organisations.

Guild also said it has seen strong growth in its overall network audience, which has grown to 16.03mln from 8mln on March 31. The network audience covers Guild followers reached through the combined platforms of the company’s pro players and content creators, although exclude those reached through Guild’s brand ambassador and shareholder David Beckham.

The firm said the growth in its audience reflected its long-term growth strategy and investments, adding that it has also executed a performance marketing strategy to engage with and serve content to its fans.

"Guild is proud to have achieved this milestone in less than a year, and ahead of plan. Our team has worked hard to deliver compelling content to our fans, while David Beckham has provided us with significant exposure to his global audience, resulting in exponential growth on Guild's social channels,” Guild chief executive Kal Hourd said in a statement.

"The huge audience and increased visibility that Guild now benefits from is creating positive impacts in each of Guild's departments and is a catalyst for future revenue growth. We are able to offer even more value to our current sponsors while simultaneously making Guild a more compelling partner for the global brands in our robust pipeline. Moreover, our strong following is unlocking opportunities for us to attract large numbers of new members to Guild Academy," the CEO added.
