Iress Ltd (ASX:IRE) led tech sector gains with a 9.3% surge to $11.97 on rumours that investment bank Barrenjoey is looking for IRESS shares on behalf of a client.
The healthcare sector was supported by a 4.3% rise in ResMed (ASX:RMD) CDI shares while CSL Ltd (ASX:CSL) gained 1.1%.

Housing Industry Association data showed new home sales in Australia surged by 15.2% in May 2021 compared to the previous month.
