Directa Plus says G+ graphene coating for fabrics suitable for human skin contact

The human patch test on volunteers did not show skin erythema and oedema reactions

Directa Plus PLC (LON:DCTA) announced its new G+ graphene coating for fabrics was tested by an independent third party laboratory and found to be suitable for human skin contact.

The human patch test on volunteers was carried out to assess any potential side effects, such as skin erythema and oedema reactions. None occured.

The fabric was reported to be 'dermatologically tested' and non-irritating.

The graphene company said the G+ coating was developed specifically for the automotive, upholstery, interior design, accessories and consumer electronics markets.

It is thermally and electrically conductive, antibacterial and antiviral (certified to be anti-SARS CoV-2), UV and abrasion-resistant and can be applied to a wide variety of substrates, from natural and artificial fabrics to non-woven and microfiber, as well as felt and leather.

Since 2014, the AIM-listed firm has commissioned 28 tests on different applications of G+ graphene, all of which have certified the absence of any negative impacts on biological systems.

"As always, our products are tested to the highest possible standards before releasing them to our target markets,” said chief executive Giulio Cesareo in a release.

“Because our products are dermatologically tested to be non-toxic and hypoallergenic, Directa's business partners can develop innovative new products knowing that they will be safe for their own consumers."
