Greatland Gold cheers ‘excellent’ Havieron results as they confirm continuity of higher-grades

The comment comes as partner Newcrest Mining releases its quarterly exploration update

Greatland Gold PLC (LON:GGP) has told investors that its latest ‘excellent’ drill results at the Havieron project confirm the continuity of higher-grade mineralisation.

The company highlighted the quarterly exploration report released by project operator Newcrest Mining Ltd (ASX:NCM) which included some of the findings from the Havieron deposit, in the Paterson region of Western Australia.

Greatland noted that drilling programmes since May 2019 have outlined an ovoid-shaped zone and mineralisation has been observed to over 1,000 metres, vertically, and the mineralisation remains open at depth.

Drilling in the fourth quarter of 2020 focused on infill areas in the South East Crescent and Breccia Zone. The programme was designed to support the potential delivery of indicated mineral resource for those areas.

The assay results received to date from the 18 hole infill programme are described as ‘excellent’.

Greatland said that a 2021 drill programme will include some 65,000 metres of drilling within the next six months. It will focus on the South East Crescent and Breccia, the Northern Breccia, and Eastern Breccia.

It will also explore new targets outside of the immediate vicinity of the Havieron deposit, but within the Havieron joint venture area.

Earthmoving operations have been underway to prepare sites for the planned 2021 drilling.

"As earth moving activities commence at Havieron, Newcrest continues to deliver excellent infill results within the existing resource shell and is launching an exciting 2021 growth drilling programme with the potential to further expand the mineralised footprint,” said Gervaise Heddle, Greatland chief executive said in a statement.

“Newcrest's plans for 65,000 metres of growth drilling will target several zones which could represent potential extensions to mineralisation outside of the inferred mineral resource estimate, as well as new targets announced today within the Havieron joint venture area."

Heddle added: "Alongside the ramp-up of exploration and early works activities at Havieron, we are also preparing to launch our Juri Joint Venture exploration programme for 2021, which will focus on drill testing priority targets, including the Parlay target within the Black Hills Project and the Goliath, Outamind and Los Diablos targets within the Paterson Range East Project.

“We look forward to providing regular updates on activities at both joint ventures - Havieron and Juri - in due course."
