easyJet loses two more directors

Neither of those leaving were subject of founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou's ire last month

easyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) deputy chairman Charles Gurassa and independent non-executive director Andy Martin have both said they will step down later this year after nine years on the board.

Martin, who is chair of the board's finance committee, will step down from the budget airline at the end of August, while Gurassa will leave at the end of December.

The moves come less than a fortnight after the company's chief financial officer Andrew Findlay announced his resignation despite surviving a vote to have him removed by the airline's founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

Haji-Ioannou, easyJet's largest shareholder with a 34% stake, convened the vote to remove four directors, including the chairman and chief executive, but not Gurassa or Martin.

Last month, the airline said it would axe 4,500 jobs or 30% of its staff to help cope with the impact of the lockdowns on its services.
