Codemasters release of Fast & Furious Crossroads game delayed by coronavirus

The title had been due to be released in May alongside the ninth instalment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise, however, the film’s release date has now been pushed back to April 2021

The release of Codemasters Group Holdings PLC’s (LON:CDM) new racing game, Fast & Furious Crossroads, has been thrown into doubt by the coronavirus pandemic.

The title had been due to be released in May alongside the ninth instalment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise, however, the AIM-listed video game developer said the film’s release date had now been pushed back to April 2021, 11 months later than planned.

As a result, Codemasters said the timing of the game’s launch was now “uncertain”, however, provided the game was released in the first quarter of its 2021 financial year it did not expect the film’s delayed release to have “a material impact” on its financial expectations for that year.

The company said it will make a further announcement confirming the games release date “in due course” following discussions with its partners.
