Eden Research ties up deal with Sipcam for Mevalone in Portugal and Benelux

Portugal has already given product approval and sales will commence there next year

Eden Research plc (LON:EDEN) has signed its second exclusive distribution contract in a week for grape fungicide Mevalone.

Italian group Sipcam will market, distribute and sell the product in Portugal and the Benelux region.

Portugal has already given product approval and sales will commence there next year and will start in the Benelux region once regulatory clearance comes through.

Sean Smith, Eden’s chief executive, said Portugal is a significant grape-growing country and a key market for Mevalone.

Partner Sipcam already sells the natural pesticide in Italy and in Spain and he said its expertise in these countries is directly transferrable to growers in Portugal and the Benelux region.

Stefano Cartacci, a director of Sipcam Oxon in Europe, added: “Growers' lives get more complicated each day due to the rise of new pests and the reduction of effective solutions.

“Mevalone is a perfect fit to our strategy of bringing innovative solutions to the market.”

Last week, Japanese group SumiAgro signed a deal to distribute Mevalone exclusively in Germany, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
