Eden Research signs Central Europe deal for Mevalone fungicide

The Japanese group will distribute Mevalone in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia

Natural pesticide group Eden Research plc (LON:EDEN) has signed an exclusive, expanded distribution agreement in Central Europe for fungicide Mevalone with SumiAgro.

The Japanese group will distribute Mevalone in Germany, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia as a fungicide for grapes and to extend the shelf-life of apples.

Unlike most other pesticides, Mevalone can be administered just prior to harvest and is based on a technology derived from yeast, which means it meets incoming EU regulations restricting the use microplastics in crop protection systems.

Sean Smith, Eden’s chief executive, said: "We are pleased to expand our relationship with SumiAgro into the central European region, where the markets for grapes and apples, in particular, are large and will help Eden to expand its sales footprint and increase product sales revenues in time."

Ken Priestley, corporate officer of SumiAgro Europe, said: “Our apple research programme over the last three years has shown that Mevalone offers a reliable new option for growers in control of storage rots."
