Union Jack Oil PLC (LON:UJO) has noted an announcement by Rathlin Energy (UK) Limited that it has begun mobilisation of a service rig at the West newton A-2 site in Yorkshire.
Union Jack, which holds a 16.7% interest in the licence containing the A-2 site, said over the coming days Rathlin would equip the A-2 well for test operations which would then run over the next 4-8 weeks.

The data gathered during the test would then aid in the evaluation of the Kirkham Abbey reservoir and inform any further work in the area.
Rathlin currently has permission to drill and test two wells on the West Newton A site, with permissions also in place for the construction of the West Newton B site and the drilling and testing of two additional wells.
In mid-morning trading on Monday, Union Jack’s shares were 1.7% lower at 0.3p.
