Union Jack Oil's West Newton partner begins logging second well

A wireline unit is now on site at the West Newton A-2 conventional appraisal for logging and testing over the coming 4-8 weeks

Union Jack Oil PLC’s (LON:UJO) project partner on the West Newton gas discovery near Hull is poised to begin logging the well before it begins full testing.

Rathlin Energy, the operator of the PEDL 183 licence in which Union Jack holds a 16.665% stake, has hired a wireline unit at the West Newton A-2 conventional appraisal well site on Tuesday.

"The wireline unit will be used to conduct some logging within the cased wellbore prior to the main phase of the testing operation,” Rathlin said in a message to local residents.

Rathlin has advised that testing is planned to take roughly 4-8 weeks.

The West Newton A-1 gas discovery is on trend with the prolific Hewett gasfield complex and regionally is located in the Southern Permian Basin.

Union Jack shares were up 1% at 0.27p on Tuesday afternoon.
