DP Poland returns to like-for-like sales growth

Total system sales grew 10% in the first half of 2019. 80% of orders are now placed online.

DP Poland PLC (LON:DPP), which operates under the Domino’s Pizza brand in Poland, saw a return to positive like-for-like (LFL) sales growth from March onwards.

In a trading update covering the first half of 2019, the company said it saw a 10% year-on-year increase in system sales. Systems sales in the March-June period were up 5% on an LFL basis from a year earlier, while the order count rose 6% on an LFL basis.

For the whole of the six-month period, systems sales were 1% lower on an LFL basis on the same period of 2018.

"The first half of 2019 has seen momentum return to like-for-like performance following the strong comparatives driven by TV advertising in January and February 2018,” said Nick Donaldson, the chairman of DP Poland.

“Like-for-like order count has grown 6% since March. Total system sales grew 10% in the first half as a result of like-for-like performance and new store openings. Our efforts in sub-franchisee recruitment are bearing fruit with two additional sub-franchisees acquiring/agreeing to acquire three corporate stores between them this month We have also entered into three more management contracts with one of our existing sub-franchisees,” he added.
