Galan Lithium confirms 160 metres of brine in latest drilling at Candelas in Argentina

Initial field testing has indicated a brine section with specific gravity up to 1.13 and conductivity of more than 200 mS/cm.

Galan Lithium Ltd (ASX:GLN) has confirmed 160 metres of lithium brine from its fifth drill hole (C-05-19) at the Candelas Lithium Brine Project in Argentina.

The drill hole is about 2.5 kilometres south of the maiden drill hole (C-01-19) which provided strong results, including an intersection of 192 metres at 802 mg/I lithium with low impurities.

Following geophysical logging several packer tests were performed, and samples collected and sent for analyses.

Shares were up almost 11% to an intra-day high of 26 cents.

Lab results for hole C-05-19 indicate good lithium grades from the brine horizon from 220 metres to 380 metres ranging from 491 to 856 mg/I lithium.

Impurity levels continue to return low values with about 2.60 Mg:Li similar to those observed at the nearby Livent Corp's (NYSE:LTHM) and Galaxy Resources Limited’s (ASX:GXY) Sal De Vida operations.

Heavy wintery weather has recently delayed Candelas operations and final sampling on-site.

Galan has also completed drill hole C-06-19 to a depth of 422 metres with the basement encountered at 419 metres.

Field results from packer tests conducted before the operations had to cease encountered brines with SG ranging from 1.09 to 1.13 for the last 42 metres of the hole.

The higher SG was met at the top of the 42-metre section.

Upon the re-start of operations, sampling will be completed on C-05-19 and new ascending packer tests will be performed on C-06-19 to delineate the brine horizon and its total thickness.

Galan will re-start operations once conditions clear.
